Q:  Do I need to order meals every day?

A:  No. If you are closed or on a field trip, for example, you may enter 0 meals. If you would like to substitute one meal for another, enter 0 for the meal date you don’t wish to serve and add the count for that day to the counts for a prior meal you wish to substitute in its stead.

Q:  Is the cost per serving or per 5 serving pan?

A:  It is per serving.

Q:  For how long must I commit to this program?

A:  There is no commitment except for the meals already delivered. You may cease at any time if the program doesn’t meet your needs or expectations.

Q: How long should I heat the meals?

A: The packages are both ovenable and microwaveable. The time required depends on your specific oven and the number of meals being heated. The delivery sheet lists the recommended temperature for each day’s food if baked for 1 hour in a conventional oven. If using a microwave oven, we suggest that you monitor the time required for the first few days. There is no need to poke a hole in the film while heating. Frozen fruits should be placed in the refrigerator when you prepare the previous day’s meal.

Q:  What can you tell me about the nutritional value?

A:  Meals conform to the USDA CACFP specifications for meal pattern, portion size and content for ages 3 – 5. Past analysis indicates that meals averaged over an entire month conform very closely to the recommendations of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the National Cholesterol Education Program for cholesterol, fat calories/total calories and saturated fat calories.
